Fatherhood

Fatherhood

Angel Be Love's passion for helping fathers is deeply rooted in his own journey of fatherhood and his quest to become the mentor he wished he had. This story begins with a young Nigel growing up in Jamaica with an unpredictable and emotionally absent father figure, navigating the challenges of boyhood and adolescence without a stable healthy male role model to guide him.

As a child, Nigel often felt lost, struggling to understand his place in the world and what it meant to be a man. He watched his friends with their fathers, feeling a mix of envy and curiosity about the bonds they shared. This absence of a stable, consistent, SAFE Male role model left a painful void in his life, one that he promised himself he would fill not only for himself but for others in the future.

Years later, when Nigel became a father himself, he was overwhelmed with JOY but also gripped by fear and uncertainty. He had no blueprint for healthy fatherhood, no wisdom passed down from his own father to guide him. Determined to break the cycle, he threw himself into parenting with all the love and enthusiasm he could muster. He learned from what examples he could find around him.. His mentor Ronnie, and his father-in-law Rick provided some good examples and clues, yet he often felt like he was stumbling in the dark, making mistakes and learning hard lessons along the way (as one must).

It was during this time that Nigel began his transformation into Angel Be Love. As he worked on his own personal growth and healing, he realized that his struggles as a father were not unique. He saw many men around him grappling with the same insecurities, the same lack of masculine love and guidance, expressing the same desire to be BETTER men and fathers than they had known.

This realization ignited a burning passion in Angel. He began to envision a world where no father had to feel as lost and overwhelmed as he had. He started organizing Men’s Circles and Father's groups, creating safe spaces where men could share their challenges, express emotions, their fears and celebrate triumphs, and come to ASK for help. These groups have become a lifeline for many, offering the kind of compassionate support and wisdom that Angel had craved in his early days of fatherhood.

As his own children grew, Angel's experience as a father deepened. He navigated the waters of raising toddlers, teenagers, and eventually, adult children. Each stage brought new lessons, new insights, and new opportunities for understanding and growth. Angel diligently documented these experiences, turning them into practical tools and teachings that he could share with younger fathers, and men considering becoming a father someday. He realized how important it is to PREPARE oneself, and to not have to do it alone!

His "Empowering Fathers" workshops became a cornerstone of his work. In these sessions, Angel would often share his own story - the pain of growing up with a father who prioritized being a provider over being present as a parent. The inner work and choices it took to be a dad who shows up, who expresses his love, and the joy of breaking that generational cycle with his own children. His vulnerability and honesty has resonated deeply with participants, creating a powerful space for healing and mutual growth.

As Angel enters his later years, he has embraced the role of an elder with grace and a youthful enthusiasm! He is recognized as a a much loved bridge between generations and sharer of wisdom. His radiant smile lines and bald head have become badges of honor, testaments to the amazing life he has lived and the deep lessons he has learned along the way.

In his role as an elder, Angel is focused on mentoring younger men and fathers, facilitating “Fatherhood Initiation Ceremonies” and providing the ongoing guidance and support he had longed for in his youth. He has created programs like "The 9 Fatherhood Archetypes," helping men understand different models of fatherhood and how to find their own authentic path. His "Father Friday" talks became popular events where he would share insights on everything from managing provider pressure and obligation overwhelm, to toddler tantrums, and rewarding romantic resilience.

Angel's passion for helping Men extends beyond just parenting skills. He recognized that to be good fathers, men needed to heal their own wounds and grow as individuals. His work often touches on themes of cultivating emotional capacity, conscious communication, spiritual and personal growth - all aimed at helping men become not just better fathers, but better humans.

As he has watched the fathers he’s mentored grow and flourish, Angel has felt a deeply nourishing sense of fulfillment. He sees in these men the kind of father he had wished he had had, and in their children, he sees tremendous hope for a future where cycles of absent and unhealthy fatherhood will end, and more connected and harmonious home-life will be the norm.

Today, Angel Be Love stands as a beacon for fathers everywhere. His journey from a fearful and attention hungry boy to a wise and compassionate elder has become a source of inspiration and guidance for countless men. Through his work, he continues to create the support system so many men crave, holding space for the fears, joys, tribulations and transformations of fatherhood. In doing his work, he's not just helping individual fathers - he's nurturing generations, creating a legacy of present, conscious, and loving fatherhood that will ripple out for years to come.
